ELY Rocker Clamp

The ELY Rocker Clamp is a hydraulic clamping system designed to provide quick mold changes on injection molding machines. With its compact construction and strong clamping force it delivers reliable clamping.

How the rocker clamp works

The ELY works with a rocker mechanism that applies pressure to the edge of the mold backplate. Its compact construction lets it take up little room on the platen; this makes it easier to find clamping points, especially on small and medium size machines.

200 °C ambient temperature

The distinguishing feature of the ELY is that it can work up to 200 °C. In applications producing with hot molds, the gaskets and sealing elements of hydraulic clamps are put under strain at this temperature; the ELY is designed for these conditions.

The safety side

The system has a double check valve and separate clamping circuits. The check valve prevents the clamp from opening when the hydraulic pressure is cut; the separate circuits prevent a fault in a single line from releasing the whole connection. The safety interface to the press lets the machine know the clamp status — the cycle does not start until the mold is fully clamped.

DIN 650 T-slot

The one-piece body seats in the standard DIN 650 T-slot. This makes adaptation to existing machines easy; no special plate machining is required.

Where it is preferred

Applications with a limited number of molds with standard backplates, working with hot molds. If the variety of molds is wide, magnetic plate systems are a more flexible solution.

How many clamps are needed

The number of clamps is determined by the mold weight, its geometry and the press tonnage; they must be distributed so as to hold the mold in balance. Clamping from one side only causes the mold to shift slightly during the cycle and produces flash at the parting line. Before installation, the T-slot dimensions and the existing hydraulic infrastructure should be checked.
