Other / Custom Magnetic Separators

In addition to the standard solutions, there are custom magnetic separators for special applications such as coolants, bag filters or laboratory separation. These systems have been developed for processes with small product flows, high viscosity or special cleaning requirements. Magnetic rods are also used individually in a variety of special filter/grid applications.

Applications that do not fit the standard mold

Free-fall, pressure line and conveyor belt solutions cover most needs. But some processes do not fit these three patterns: the flow is very small, the product is unusually viscous, the environment is aggressive, or the separation has to be done with laboratory precision.

Typical special applications

• Coolant separation — metal dust mixed into the cutting fluid in machining spoils surface quality and shortens the fluid's life; a magnetic separator markedly reduces the load on the filter
• Protection ahead of bag filters — prevents the filter from filling with metal and clogging early, lowering consumables cost
• Laboratory and sample separation — metal detection under controlled conditions in small batches
• Special geometry — housings adapted to existing equipment and made to measure

When to move to a custom solution

Space constraints, high temperature, an aggressive chemical environment, an ATEX requirement, a non-standard connection size or an expectation of high precision at very low throughput — if any of these applies, a custom design should be considered instead of a standard product.

The single magnetic rod option

Most special applications are solved with single magnetic rods rather than a ready-made housing. The rod is placed directly in an existing grid, hopper or filter structure; the diameter, length, magnet type and surface material are determined according to the application.
