Choosing a model in the SV series

From the drop-down list on this page you can reach all the SV models between 130 and 3,350 Tons. Choosing the right model within the series takes two steps: first the clamping force (tonnage), then the injection unit.

The tonnage is calculated from the projected area of the part and the cavity pressure the material requires; in a multi-cavity mold the runner is added to the area as well. You can do the calculation for your own part with the tonnage calculation tool.

The injection unit is determined by the shot weight. Several screw diameter options are available at every tonnage (A/B/C). The shot weight must stay within the 20 – 80% range of the selected screw's capacity: with very small shots the material waits a long time in the barrel and degrades, and with very large shots no cushion is left for holding.

What servo drive brings

A servo motor controlled pump produces hydraulic flow only when it is needed. In systems with a fixed speed pump the motor turns at full speed throughout the cycle and the excess flow turns into heat through the relief. In a servo system that loss disappears; the difference in energy consumption becomes clear over long operating hours. The subject is covered in the energy consumption and savings article.
