A belt instead of a screw: why the pulse effect disappears

Classic gravimetric dosers carry the material with a screw. As the screw turns, the material advances in a discontinuous manner; every turn releases a certain amount of material. This discontinuity shows up as ratio fluctuation at low dosing rates — this is what the industry calls the pulse effect.

Ferlin ONE uses a belt instead of a screw. The material flows continuously and evenly on the belt; discontinuous feeding disappears. The manufacturer states that this design provides dosing about 6 times more precise than classic systems.

Where it makes a difference

The difference grows as the dosing ratio falls. At masterbatch and additive ratios below 1%, screw-based systems struggle; ONE does the job it was designed for in this band. Its capacity is in the 0.1 – 25 kg/h range, meaning it is designed not for high-consumption lines but for applications where precision comes first.

EasyClean and color change

When it falls short

For high capacity or multi-component recipes the GRAVIMIX series are more suitable; ONE's capacity band is limited.
