Adapter Box

The adapter box makes molds and control units with different connection standards compatible with each other.

In plants working with molds from different makers, the socket standards do not match. Instead of making a separate cable set for each mold, an adapter box is used and the existing cables are kept.

Bringing different standards together

Molds come from different makers, and each maker uses its own connection standard. If the socket of a newly arrived mold does not match your control unit, there are three options: change the mold, change the unit, or use an adapter box. The third is by far the most economical.

Where it is useful

• Plants that buy molds from different brands or do contract production
• Running older generation molds with new control units
• Jobs produced with the customer's mold — the mold arrives in a different standard every time
• Mold rental and temporary production

Why an adapter instead of changing the mold

Changing the socket on the mold side requires dismantling the mold and intervening in its electrical wiring; what is more, when the mold goes to another plant the same problem arises there in reverse. The adapter box produces a solution without touching the mold and stays in the plant.

When choosing

The connection on one side of the box must suit the mold standard, and the other side the control unit standard. FIEGE supports more than 200 connection standards; it is enough to tell us the type of the two sides you have. It must also be checked that the current capacity covers the total heater power in the mold.
