Open-body conveyor with an aluminum profile frame — for beside-the-machine transport, inspection and packing lines.
This is an open-body conveyor that runs horizontally. The top of the belt is not covered; the part is visible and can be handled by hand. For this reason it is used beside the machine, at the inspection table and on the packing line rather than under the machine.
The frame is made of aluminum sigma profile. This construction gives two advantages: the unit is light, and attachments (sensor bracket, slide, divider) can be added to the profile later.
If the part drops straight from the mold and the belt needs protecting from oil, a below-machine conveyor is the better choice.
The belt bed is supported with stainless or galvanized sheet metal; if required, a side barrier is added — this barrier stops small and round parts from falling off the edge of the belt.
There are two frame options depending on the transport requirement: the version with braked casters makes the unit movable within the line, while the version with adjustable feet provides a fixed installation and precise height adjustment.
Drive is by a geared motor, and control is by a box with start–stop and emergency stop buttons.
The deciding dimensions are belt width, length and working height. The belt width is determined by the largest dimension of the part and how it drops onto the belt; the working height by the level at which the operator can work comfortably standing up, or by the output height of the machine it is to be connected to.
If it is to be used on an inspection line, adjustable speed is required — the belt speed has to match the operator's inspection pace.
