NEVA is a carrier that keeps the big bag upright and stable. It consists of a base and four poles. The big bag sits on the base and the poles hold it at its four corners. From then on, the big bag is no longer a separate load and behaves like a pallet: it is moved with a forklift, a stacker or a pallet jack, stacked on top of other carriers and placed directly on the unloading station.
The base measures 1,189 × 1,189 mm and carries 1,500 kg. Its dish-shaped surface centers the big bag. The central discharge opening and the dosing slide allow the big bag to be emptied at the unloading station without being taken off the carrier. There are three base types:
| Base | Used for |
|---|---|
| Recycled PP | The standard choice in non-food industries |
| Virgin PP | Applications that require hygiene, such as food and pharmaceuticals |
| Open on two sides | Side entry for an electric stacker |
In food applications, a virgin PP base, stainless steel (304 or 316) poles and a roller spring head are used together; in this configuration the load limit of the base is 1,000 kg.
The poles are selected according to the height of the big bag. The head at the top of the pole determines what the carrier does:
| Head | Function |
|---|---|
| Flow Head | Spring-assisted; during unloading it pulls the big bag upward with a force of about 200 kg and forms it into a cone. The material empties completely, without bridging. Compatible with all bases |
| Sliding Pole | Does the same job pneumatically, without manual intervention. Used only with the unloading station |
| Spring Head | The standard choice for filling, stacking, transport and unloading |
| Roller spring head | The version of the Spring Head for small big bags |
| Lock Head | Conical head on which the carrier above sits when stacking; lifts the big bag during unloading |
| Fixed Head | For heavy-duty conditions |
The overall height of a carrier with a Flow Head depends on the size of the big bag:
| Big bag | Raised | Lowered |
|---|---|---|
| 105 cm | 1,805 mm | 1,620 mm |
| 160 cm | 2,355 mm | 2,170 mm |
| 200 cm | 2,755 mm | 2,570 mm |
The carriers are stacked on top of each other with Lock Heads; the stack reaches up to 7 meters. Big bags are thus stored vertically without racking. An empty carrier is dismantled in a few minutes without tools, and the space it occupies shrinks by 90%. A truck holds 22 full carriers or more than 100 empty systems; when shipping full carriers, there is no loss of volume compared with euro pallets. This is a major advantage for plants that receive material in big bags and send the carriers back to the supplier.
The weight of the big bag must not exceed 1,500 kg. The carrier is configured for big bags with a width and length of 70–120 cm and a height of 40–230 cm; the loop type of the big bag also affects the choice of poles. If big bags of different sizes are used in the same plant, the pole lengths are planned accordingly. A Flow Head is chosen for complete emptying and poorly flowing materials, a Lock Head for high stacking.
