Screw Hose Coupling

Screw couplings, also called one-hand couplings (Einhandkupplungen), are part of the Michel Tube portfolio. In tight spaces or where access is difficult, we recommend the use of screw/one-hand couplings to make handling easier.

At coupling stations (Kupplungsbahnhöfe), a center distance of 80 mm can be achieved with an offset (versetzt) arrangement of the distributor outlets. For this we recommend the use of screw couplings with a union nut (Überwurfmutter).

3 different types are available: Female Part - Cap, Female Part - Hose Connection, Male Part - Tube Connection. Available in 4 different diameters (Ø 40.0 – Ø 60.0 mm).

The solution for tight spaces

The choice of coupling is often made quickly; yet what is decisive is access. Camlock type couplings require the two levers to be opened at the same time, and this becomes difficult when working in a tight niche or at height. Screw couplings — in German Einhandkupplung, a coupling used with one hand — can be connected and released with one hand.

Where it is preferred

• A cramped layout at a coupling station
• Connection points near a wall or ceiling
• Situations where the operator has to hold the hose with the other hand
• Points where the line of sight is restricted, such as the back of a machine

The pros and cons of a screw connection

The screw design holds more securely than a camlock under vibration; the risk of it opening by itself is low. On the other hand, connecting and releasing takes a few seconds longer. At a station that changes material dozens of times a day this difference becomes meaningful in total; on connections that are rarely taken apart it is insignificant.

The decision
