Industrial Chillers and Cooling Units

The standard series is a family of air-cooled modular chillers with scroll compressors. It rejects condenser heat to the ambient air with axial fans, needs no cooling tower and is installed outdoors. The same unit can also run as a heat pump: it produces 5–20 °C water in cooling mode and 30–55 °C water in heating mode.

Model selection within the series

The series has three models with nominal cooling capacities of 65, 130 and 270 kW. The number of compressors and fans increases with capacity (1, 2 and 4); in the multi-compressor models only the compressors that are needed run at part load. For larger requirements, units are connected to each other in a modular arrangement.

Model selection is based on the total heat load from mold cooling and hydraulic oil cooling. Since a water flow of 0.172 m³/h per kW applies at nominal conditions, the pump and pipe size are determined accordingly (11.2 m³/h for the 65 kW model).

Design

• Hermetic scroll compressor, R410A refrigerant
• Electronic expansion valve
• Vacuum-brazed plate heat exchanger on the water side
• Low-noise axial fans
• Wired controller (PJAC-T-A301): balances compressor running hours and starts the least-used compressor first

Operating range

Operates at outdoor temperatures of 5–48 °C in cooling and −15–30 °C in heating.

Nominal cooling test conditions (manufacturer's catalog): water flow 0.172 m³/(h·kW), leaving water 7 °C, ambient 35 °C.
