The water-cooled series is a family of chillers with scroll compressors that reject condenser heat to cooling tower water instead of air. With no fans and no large air-cooled condenser, the body is compact; the unit can be installed indoors in a machine room and is not affected by the outdoor air temperature. If the plant has a tower circuit, it is the most efficient option.
The series has five models with nominal cooling capacities of 85, 125, 170, 255 and 340 kW. Two flow rates are checked together during selection: the evaporator (chilled water) side and the condenser (tower water) side. For example, the 170 kW model has an evaporator flow of 29.2 m³/h and a condenser flow of 36.6 m³/h; the tower and pump capacity must match these values.
In a water-loop (heat pump) arrangement the unit can also heat; its nominal heating capacity is higher than its cooling capacity (230 kW for the 170 kW model).
Evaporator leaving water 5–20 °C, condenser leaving water 15–50 °C.
Nominal cooling test conditions (manufacturer's catalog): evaporator leaving water 7 °C, flow 0.172 m³/(h·kW); condenser entering water 30 °C, flow 0.215 m³/(h·kW).
