Serie TEMP 120°C — WDC Temperature Control Unit

TEMP 120 WDC TS is the master model of the direct cooling (Water Direct Cooling) mold temperature control unit series. From the drop-down list you can reach the TEMP, TEMP-XL and TEMP-XXL body options.

What is direct cooling

In standard temperature control units the cooling water acts on the circuit through a heat exchanger; the two circuits are separate from each other. In WDC systems, however, the cooling water mixes directly into the main circuit. When the heat exchanger in between is removed, the delay in heat transfer disappears too.

The gain: response time

The difference is seen most in the temperature lowering phase. When the recipe changes or the mold is to be cooled, WDC systems respond markedly faster. In short-cycle production with frequent product changes this is a direct time gain.

The price: sensitivity to water quality

Because the cooling water mixes into the main circuit, the quality of the water directly affects the service life of the system. The risk of scale, deposits and corrosion is higher than with standard systems; water treatment and periodic checks become more important. If the plant's water quality is not known, an analysis before the investment is recommended.

Choosing a model

Heater power and pump flow are determined by the thermal mass of the mold and the number of circuits. For a standard solution you can look at the 90 °C series, and for a higher temperature the 140 °C series.
