It is mounted in inclined chutes and pipelines; the magnetic plate in the direction of flow catches the ferrous particles in the sliding material. A compact solution for limited installation space.
The chute magnet is designed for points where the material slides along an inclined surface rather than vertically. Screen outlets, feeder chutes and inclined transfer channels are typical locations. The magnet is positioned opposite the surface on which the material slides.
In an inclined flow the material does not fall freely under gravity; it moves along the surface, creeping, and spreads out as a layer. Vertical-type separators cannot be mounted in this geometry. The chute magnet, by contrast, is placed parallel to the flow surface and scans the whole layer.
The magnet should be placed at the point where the material is spread most thinly. As the layer thickens, it becomes harder to reach a particle in the bottom layer; the width and inclination of the chute therefore directly affect the capture rate. If the inclination is too steep, the material accelerates and the time spent passing through the field becomes shorter.
On most models the magnet surface is scraped off by hand after opening the cover. If cleaning is not to require a stop on continuously running lines, solutions with automatic scraping or twin lines are considered.

The chute angle directly determines the material flow speed; after installation it should be verified with the real flow. The distance of the magnet from the material surface should be adjustable, and cover access for cleaning must not be obstructed. An even spread of the layer across the chute width is the simplest measure for raising the capture rate.
