Free-Fall Separators

Free fall magnetic separators are used to remove metal contamination from dry and dusty product streams passing through pipes or ducts by gravity. In many sectors, above all food, animal feed, chemicals and recycling, they form the core of magnetic separation. Thanks to their simple construction, powerful magnets and hygienic surface they are a reliable solution for a clean product stream and safe production.

Working principle

Powerful permanent magnets are placed in the product stream. As the product falls through the separator, iron, steel or wear particles are attracted to the magnet bars or plates and held there. Product quality is thereby preserved and the machines in the next process step are protected from damage. The housing is made entirely of stainless steel (SS 304 or SS 316) and is suitable for hygienic applications. In environments with a risk of dust explosion, the systems can be supplied in an ATEX certified version (zones 1, 2 and 3).

Areas of application

Food (flour, milk powder, spices), animal feed (protecting mixers and extruders), chemicals, plastics processing and recycling. With high flux density Neodymium magnets even very small particles are captured.
