Goliath Plus is the general-purpose model among the toothed roller granulators. It is used in injection molding and extrusion lines to granulate sprues and reject parts; it can work standalone or be integrated into the raw material feeding line.
The trapezoidal tooth cutting geometry is designed to keep the granule size uniform. A part entering the cutting chamber is cut progressively between the rollers, not smashed by impact. As a result the granulated material comes out low in dust and behaves consistently in the dosing unit.
Four cutting chamber sizes
The models differ by the width of the cutting chamber; the depth is 228 mm on all four models. The largest dimension of your part must pass through the mouth of the chamber, so the selection is made on this basis first. The capacity requirement is the second deciding factor and is met by the choice of motor power.
Layout and integration
It can be run standalone beside the machine, or connected to a closed loop that passes the granulated material to the conveying line and from there to the dosing unit. In this setup the sprue goes straight back into production and valuable raw material does not go to waste.
Why slow speed?
High-speed blade mills break the material up by impact; this produces heat, noise and dust. The toothed roller design cuts the material at low speed. The result is quieter operation, markedly less dust and a more uniform granule size. If you are going to return the granulated material to production, these three points are reflected directly in your part quality.
Life of the cutting elements
The combs, counter-combs and pre-cutters are designed to be reversible: when one face wears, it is removed and turned round so that its second face is used. In practice this doubles the life of the cutting elements. If you process abrasive material, a wear resistant coating option is available for the cutting elements.
