Goliath Plus VIS is the model with a screw conveyor under the cutting chamber. The screw conveyor discharges the granulated material horizontally; so there is no need to leave height for placing a collection bin under the machine.
The practical meaning of this is: the machine can be placed directly under the mold. The sprue is granulated where it drops from the mold, and a separate conveying step is no longer needed. The footprint is small and the installation height is low.
When VIS, when the standard Goliath Plus?
If you want to granulate the sprue under the mold and you have a height restriction above the machine, VIS is the right model. If there is no such restriction in the layout, the standard Goliath Plus offers wider cutting chamber options.
Why slow speed?
High-speed blade mills break the material up by impact; this produces heat, noise and dust. The toothed roller design cuts the material at low speed. The result is quieter operation, markedly less dust and a more uniform granule size. If you are going to return the granulated material to production, these three points are reflected directly in your part quality.
Life of the cutting elements
The combs, counter-combs and pre-cutters are designed to be reversible: when one face wears, it is removed and turned round so that its second face is used. In practice this doubles the life of the cutting elements. If you process abrasive material, a wear resistant coating option is available for the cutting elements.
