Die Splitter

With the EAS Die Splitter (Die Separator) it is possible to separate and open a press die, then turn the die half and place the turned half back on the table. In this way a die set can be separated and serviced by a single person, in a controlled and repeatable way.

The safe way to open a die

When a die has to be opened for maintenance, the common method is a crane, wedges and manual intervention. This method has three known risks: uncontrolled separation of the die half, swinging of the suspended load, and the operator's hand or foot being caught between the two halves. The die splitter does this job with a controlled mechanism.

What it does

The device separates and opens the press die; it then turns the die half and allows the turned half to be put back. The whole movement takes place at controlled speed and along a defined axis; the load is never left free at any stage.

Capacity

Models are available in the 2 – 60 ton range. The selection is made according to the heaviest die in the plant; it is recommended to leave a margin rather than working at the capacity limit.

Part of the maintenance program

Opening the die is the most frequently repeated step of periodic maintenance. Being able to do it safely and quickly ensures that maintenance is not postponed — maintenance seen as a difficult and risky job is delayed in practice and its cost rises.
