Mold Rotating and Maintenance Equipment
In most plants mold maintenance is done on blocks laid out on the floor with the help of a crane. That is neither safe nor quick: opening and closing the mold, turning it over and inspecting it all take a long time. EAS maintenance solutions make these operations fixed, safe and repeatable.
In the field this equipment group is referred to by the names mold tilting, mold rotating and mold upending together; all three describe tipping the mold through 90° under control.

Hydraulic or electric?
Hydraulic units provide high force and are preferred on heavy molds; they do, however, require a hydraulic power unit, hoses and periodic oil maintenance.
The EMR electric rotating unit needs no hydraulics: installation is simple, there is no risk of oil leakage and the maintenance burden is low. If the mold weight is in the right range, the electric solution is more practical.
Safety
In mold opening and rotating operations the crushing risk is the greatest danger. The light curtain on the inspection units stops the movement when the operator enters the hazardous area. Compared with the manual block-and-crane method, that is the clearest difference.

The real reason maintenance gets postponed
Mold maintenance is usually postponed not through lack of knowledge but because it is difficult and risky. Lifting the mold with a crane, opening it on blocks, turning it over and putting it back takes time and is dangerous. These solutions turn maintenance into a job that can actually be done.

The difference between hydraulic and electric rotating
Hydraulic rotators can release the load uncontrolled in the event of a pressure loss and require leakage maintenance. The EMR electric rotator has no hydraulics; the movement takes place at a controlled speed by electric drive and holds its position when stopped.
Crushing risk
The most serious type of accident in mold maintenance is a hand or foot caught between the two mold halves. An inspection unit with a light curtain stops the movement when the protected area is entered. This is safety provided by hardware rather than by procedure, and it does not depend on human error.
