The EAS Electric Mold Rotator (EMR) is the safe and efficient way to rotate tools; it provides 90° rotation. EAS mold rotators can handle loads of up to 50 tons. Molds and press tools can be turned safely in order to lift one half of the mold or to transport the mold. The unit is fully electric — no hydraulics required.

Mold tilting, turning, rotating — all the same operation
On the shop floor this equipment goes by three different names: mold tilting unit, mold turning unit, mold rotating unit. The operation meant is the same — laying the mold over by 90° on a controlled platform, without holding it suspended from a crane.
Tilting the mold is the first step of maintenance. The parting surface, the ejector system and the cooling connections can only be seen and worked on once the mold has been brought into a suitable position.
How is capacity chosen?
What decides it is not the weight written on the mold card but the real weight of the part to be placed on the platform:
- Is the complete mold to be tilted, or only one half? There can be a difference of almost a factor of two between them.
- Heaters, the cable harness, cooling connection blocks and the auxiliary elements left on the mold are also included in the weight.
- The selection is made according to the heaviest mold in the plant; the unit serves not a single mold but the whole mold park.
- Do not work at the limit of the capacity. Leaving a margin of about 20% is right both for safety and for service life.
The second criterion is the platform size. The base of the mold must sit fully on the platform and must not overhang the edges. The center of gravity should be positioned close to the middle of the platform; a load that has shifted to the edge creates an unwanted moment during rotation.
Where does it fit in the workshop?
The tilting unit does not work on its own but as a link in a chain:
1. The mold is taken from the rack or the machine with a mold cart 2. It is brought into the maintenance position on the tilting unit 3. If the halves need to be separated, the die splitter comes into play 4. Detailed inspection and cleaning are carried out on the mold inspection table
If one of these links is missing, the mold still waits its turn for the crane and the gain is lost.

- Whether the complete mold or a single half is to be tilted
- The clear ceiling height and maneuvering space in the workshop
