The EAS Walk-Behind Unit (ETU) is a battery-driven, manually controlled towing/pushing vehicle used to take molds from the store or maintenance area to the press and bring them back. More than one carrier (trailer) can be coupled to this vehicle, or the vehicle can be used as an integrated unit in a tool carrier. The system works most efficiently when one vehicle serves more than one trailer.
How does it work? The vehicle is maneuvered into position; a hydraulic cylinder lifts the hook into the socket on the trailer. The hydraulic force is enough to lift the trailer — the two parts combine so that the vehicle and trailer become a single body. The additional load on the drive wheel provides sufficient traction to move the load. When the target position is reached, the hook is lowered and the vehicle is immediately free to be used on another trailer — no waiting, optimum vehicle utilization.
Area of use: Wherever expensive tools must be transported safely, such as injection and blow molds, sheet metal dies and die casting tools.
