Aluminum tubes are used as conveying tubes and vacuum lines in the bulk material and plastics industries. Our Michel Tube aluminum tubes are supplied packed and ready to install; after arriving on site they can be installed without extra preparation, and installation time and labor cost are reduced.
The standard length is 6000 mm, and they are available in an outside diameter range of 38–200 mm and in wall thicknesses of 1.5 / 2.0 / 2.5 / 3.0 / 5.0 mm. Special sizes are produced on request.
Aluminum tube has two clear advantages over stainless steel: light weight and cost. In vacuum lines what is carried is not material but air; there is no wear load on the tube wall. That is why using aluminum on the vacuum side is both economical and easy to install.
On long lines the weight difference is felt on the installation side as well: fewer suspension points, easier handling and alignment.
Aluminum is softer than stainless steel. On material lines where the granulate is in direct contact, wear progresses faster; with abrasive raw material an aluminum tube thins out in a short time. For this reason, on the material side aluminum should be preferred only for soft, unfilled granulate.
