Suction Lance - Aluminum / Stainless Steel

Combining aluminum and stainless steel, this lance raises durability in the area where wear is concentrated. Because the rest of the body remains aluminum, the cost of a fully stainless lance is not reached.

On the hybrid body too, the handle is positioned on the inside; this means no catching point forms in the material flow. The length and diameter options are determined by the depth of the container and the position of the suction point. At Michel Tube, suction lances are available in aluminum, stainless steel and aluminum/stainless steel hybrid variants.

This product is made of aluminum/stainless steel 1.4301 hybrid; it is supplied in the execution with handle (mit Bügel), in 4 different diameters (Ø 40.0 – Ø 60.3 mm) and 3 different overall lengths (approximately 600 / 1,200 / 2,000 mm).

The logic of the hybrid design

This lance uses two materials together in different sections of the body: the area exposed to wear is stainless, the rest of the body aluminum. The aim is to raise durability in the critical area without reaching the cost of a fully stainless lance.

Where wear occurs

On a suction lance wear is not equal everywhere. The suction mouth and the first transition section, where the granulate is accelerated by the air stream and changes direction, is the part that wears most. The upper section of the body, on the other hand, carries mostly air and has a low wear load. The hybrid design makes use of this difference.

Who it is suitable for

• Plants processing moderately abrasive raw material
• Applications where a fully stainless lance remains costly, but an aluminum lance is short-lived
• Production that is not satisfied with the lance change frequency but has no food-grade requirement

When to move to fully stainless

With glass fiber and mineral filled raw material the wear spreads over the whole body; in that case a fully stainless lance is more economical. In food production, on the other hand, the choice of material is stainless anyway for hygiene reasons.
