Suction lances are used in the plastics industry at the suction point. For this, the suction lance is dipped into the container (material container, octabin) together with a hose. Thanks to regulation by the false air (Falschluft) added to the system, the system draws the granulate out of the container by suction.
At Michel Tube, suction lances are available in various lengths and diameters. A handle (Bügel) located on the inside in particular has proved advantageous, because it avoids protrusions/catching points (Störkanten). At Michel Tube, suction lances are available in aluminum, stainless steel and aluminum/stainless steel hybrid variants.
This product is made of stainless steel 1.4301; it is supplied in the single-tube system with a 45° miter (Einrohrsystem mit 45° Gehrung) execution, in 7 different diameters (Ø 38.0 – Ø 60.3 mm) and with an overall length of approximately 975 mm.
A fully stainless lance is preferred in two situations. The first is abrasive raw material: glass fiber, mineral filled and hard granulate thin out an aluminum body quickly. The second is food and medical production: here the choice of material is not a preference but a hygiene requirement.
The mitered tip allows the lance to work closer to the bottom of the container and to draw the material left at the bottom of the container. With a straight-tipped lance a certain amount of granulate is left behind around the base every time; with small batches and expensive raw material this loss becomes meaningful.
What is more, the mitered transition prevents the flow from meeting a sharp bend, reducing both the pressure loss and the wear.
A stainless surface withstands cleaning chemicals and leaves no pores; the risk of residue at a material change is low. In food production the surface quality (degree of polish) also matters.
Whatever the material, the performance of the lance depends on the false air balance. If the setting is wrong, a stainless body does not correct irregular conveying either. For the other options you can look at the suction lances page.
