Michel Vario Coding

Michel Vario Coding is designed for color marking at coupling stations (Kupplungsbahnhof). Ideal especially for the Michel Vario Table, this simple marking method gives the user an immediate overview of the line routing and so makes the whole operation easier.

The color coding can be retrofitted and is also adhesive; this means additional markings can be added. Used together with pipe clips or hose codings, it results in a simple and economical color marking that gives the end user savings in time and therefore cost in the operation of the coupling station.

10 different colors are available: Blue, Yellow, Grey, Green, Natural (Natur), Orange, Red, Black, Purple, White.

Marking made for the Vario table

Michel Vario coding is designed for use at coupling stations and especially on the Michel Vario Table. Its difference from standard colored rings is that it is integrated into the structure of the table and shows the operator not only which line it is, but also where the line goes.

Why routing information is valuable

At a crowded coupling station, color alone gives the information "this line is blue". Vario coding, in addition, positions visually which machine or which silo group the line belongs to. The operator does not have to trace the line; the decision time shortens and the chance of a wrong connection falls.

Thinking of it as a whole system

Coding is not a solution on its own; together with the Vario table layout, pipe coding and hose coding it forms a consistent system. It is essential that all three use the same color scale; two codings set up on different logic are more confusing than no coding at all.

After installation

The color assignments should be tied to a chart, and the chart should be in a visible place at the station. Not updating the chart when lines change is the most common reason coding systems fail.
