Mobile Separation Unit

A wheeled, portable magnetic separation unit; it allows flexible use at different points in the plant. It is practical for sampling and temporary separation applications.

A solution that needs no fixed installation

The mobile separation unit is a complete separator system mounted on a wheeled chassis. Instead of being connected to a fixed line, it is taken to the point where it is needed. In this way a single unit can serve more than one line in the plant, or a temporary job.

When it is the right choice

• Variable production — if it is not fixed which line will run with which raw material, a fixed installation remains inefficient
• Temporary need — screening a batch suspected of contamination
• Trial before investment — measuring effectiveness under real conditions before moving to a fixed system
• Intervention on site — temporary protection at a customer's plant or in contract production

Its limits

A mobile unit does not permanently replace a fixed separator. If the line needs to be protected continuously, a fixed solution suited to the flow type is more reliable; the mobile unit depends on the operator taking it there, and this human factor lapses over time.

When evaluating

The capacity, feed height and discharge arrangement of the unit must suit the physical conditions of your plant. If you are using it for a trial, recording the amount of metal it collects supports the fixed investment decision with numbers.

When used for a trial

If it is used to decide on moving to a fixed system, the amount of metal it collects and the duration should be recorded. This data shows numerically whether the investment is necessary and helps to determine the right capacity. Decisions taken on estimates often end up with a system that is either larger than necessary or inadequate.
