Nozzle System
Nozzle SystemThe injection nozzle is the last part that transfers the melt coming from the plasticizing unit to the sprue bushing of the mold. A standard nozzle only provides that transition. Yet in problems such as drooling, metal contamination or color mixing, the nozzle is the most practical point at which to intervene without touching the machine or the screw.
Nozzle systems are fitted in place of the existing nozzle; they are used on vertical or horizontal injection molding machines.
| Problem | Solution | How it works |
|---|---|---|
| Melt drools from the nozzle between shots | Pneumatic Shut-Off Nozzle | Mechanical needle-type closing, synchronized with the machine signal |
| The same problem; without an air line and signal connection | Spring Shut-Off Nozzle | Closing by an internal spring, resistant to glass-fiber filled material |
| Metal particles block the hot runner | Filter Nozzle | Replaceable filter insert with 1 or 3 mm holes |
| Colors do not blend homogeneously | Vortex Mixing Nozzle | A vortex effect created by angled vanes |
Both cut off melt drooling from the nozzle and eliminate stringing. The difference between them is where the closing is commanded from.
The pneumatic shut-off nozzle uses compressed air and the injection start-stop signals of the machine; the opening and closing timing is synchronized with the machine. The spring shut-off nozzle requires no external drive: it takes its closing force from the spring inside it, and the standard spring holds up to 8 bar. Because it does not have to bear against anything, purging can be done at the desired point.
On shut-off nozzles the temperature of the nozzle zone is controlled with a thermocouple and a heater band. In this way the melt neither freezes in the nozzle nor overheats and burns.

The filter nozzle is the last protection preventing metal that has entered the line from reaching the mold; most of the metal should be caught earlier by metal separation systems. The vortex mixing nozzle also improves the blend, but the additive ratio itself is determined by gravimetric dosing.
Sharing the brand and model of your machine, the connection dimension of the existing nozzle and the material you process is enough for us to determine the right nozzle.
