Product Description and Technical Details

Vacuum lines, like material lines, are needed for setting up a central material feeding system. Vacuum lines are mostly made of aluminum and are installed in diameters of 100 mm / 150 mm / 200 mm as required. Special executions and cross-sections are also possible.

For this reason Michel Tube's portfolio includes standard parts for setting up a central vacuum line; these parts can be combined with one another like a building block (Baukasten) system. Special executions / special sizes are also possible on request.

This product is the system's reducer (diameter reduction) part; it is supplied in aluminum, with a main diameter of Ø 100.0/150.0/200.0 mm and a reduced diameter in the Ø 76.1/88.9/114.3/168.3 mm range.

Changing diameter in the vacuum line

In central feeding systems the vacuum line is usually built wide near the source and narrowing towards the ends. The reducer provides this transition. Its difference from a reducer on the material line is that here pressure loss, not wear, is decisive; no granulate passes through it.

Avoiding a sudden narrowing

The sharper the change of diameter, the more the flow resistance rises. A reducer with a conical transition produces markedly less loss than a stepped narrowing. On long lines the total effect of several reducers can visibly lower the effective capacity of the pump.

Choosing the diameter

The vacuum line diameter is determined by the total length of the line and the number of loaders connected. A narrow diameter causes no problems on short lines; on long routes, however, the friction loss grows and the loader at the end does not find enough draw. In the capacity calculation, simultaneity — how many loaders will run at the same time — must always be taken into account.
