30° Branch Y-Connection - Stainless Steel

The 30° branch connection is the fitting that splits the line at the gentlest angle. In this geometry the area where the arm joins the tube is long and narrow; laser welding makes it possible to produce this thin transition without deformation.

The 30° Branch Y-Connection is used to add a side line to the main conveying line at a very narrow angle such as 30° — it provides an even smoother transition than 45° and minimizes the turbulence in the material flow. The main line and the side line are produced in the same diameter. The available diameter range is Ø 38.0 – Ø 88.9 mm, and the wall thickness 1.5 / 2.0 mm.

The smallest angle, the least loss

The 30° branch connection is the option among the branch geometries that disturbs the flow least. The material is directed into the arm while advancing almost in a straight line; both the pressure loss and the severity of impact on the wall are at a minimum.

In pneumatic lines, pressure loss takes directly from the pump capacity. On long lines with many branches, the total effect of the angle choice is seen in the drawing power at the end point of the line.

The price: length

A small angle needs more space. A 30° part is markedly longer than a T-piece making the same branch. When the route is planned, this space must be set aside from the start.

Mounting orientation

The arm must face the direction of flow. A 30° part connected the wrong way round loses its advantage completely and makes the material strike the opposite surface at a sharp angle — in this case it behaves worse even than a T-piece. It is one of the most frequent mistakes in line installation.

Material selection

With unfilled, soft granulate a stainless body has a long life. With glass fiber and mineral filled raw material, however, the branch points wear quickly; in this case a wear-resistant 30° connection should be preferred.

If space is limited, the 45° connection is a balanced compromise.
