30° Branch Y-Connection - Wear-Resistant

The wear-resistant 30° branch connection offers both the lowest wear angle and a resistant body together. With abrasive raw material it is the branch solution that extends line life the most.

The hardened surface also provides protection in the long arm area of the narrow-angle transition. In this geometry the material is in contact with the wall over a longer distance, so surface hardness matters over a wider area than in short-angle parts.

The diameter and length are determined by assessing the conveying speed, the raw material processed and the available installation space together; the 30° geometry requires sufficient straight distance on the route.

The 30° Branch Y-Connection is used to add a side line to the main conveying line at a very narrow angle such as 30° — it provides a smooth transition and minimizes the turbulence in the material flow. The available diameter range is Ø 38.0 – Ø 88.9 mm, and the wall thickness 1.5 / 2.0 mm.

The smallest branch angle

The 30° branch connection is the option among the branch geometries that disturbs the flow least. The material is directed into the arm while it continues to advance almost in a straight line; the severity of impact on the wall is at a minimum.

The wear ranking in practice is as follows: 30° the least, 45° medium, a 90° T the highest. The pressure loss follows the same order. With abrasive raw material this difference is felt directly as the life of the part.

The price: space requirement

The counterpart of a small angle is length. A 30° connection takes up markedly more space than a T-piece making the same branch. When the line route is planned this space must be set aside from the start; trying to squeeze it in later usually means going back to a larger-angle part.

When it should be preferred

Plants processing glass fiber and mineral filled raw material that want to extend line life and have room on the route. If space is limited, the 45° branch connection is a balanced compromise.

With unfilled raw material and a low wear load, on the other hand, there is no need for a wear-resistant body; the stainless options are more economical.
