A T-piece splits the line at a right angle and is the branch solution that takes up the least space. In a perpendicular joint the geometry of the inner corner is critical; laser welding makes this corner come out clean, so that the weld seam does not obstruct the flow.
The T-Piece is used to take a side line off a main conveying line at a right angle (90°) or to join two lines. The main line (Ø1) and the side line (Ø2) can be of different or the same diameter. The available diameter range is Ø 38.0 – Ø 114.3 mm, and the wall thickness 1.5 / 2.0 mm. For a specific diameter combination please contact us — it may vary depending on stock.
A T-piece splits the line at a 90° angle. It creates more pressure loss and wear than a Y-piece; in return, it saves space. In tight spaces, at the foot of a wall or at points where the line has to turn sharply, a Y-piece physically does not fit.
The best-known problem of a 90° branch is the dead zone at the branch point. The opposite surface that the flow strikes directly is the fastest wearing point; material can also build up here and leave residue at a color change. On T-pieces with a closed end this build-up is more pronounced.
For a gentler transition the Y-piece, and for a medium-angle solution the 45° branch connection, can be considered.
