45° Branch Y-Connection - Wear-Resistant

The wear-resistant 45° branch connection is used at points where there is no room on the route for a 30° part. The resistant body takes up the wear load that arises at a medium-angle branch.

The high surface hardness takes up the impact load that arises at a medium-angle branch. Because 45° is balanced in terms of both wear and space, it has become the standard choice on most lines processing abrasive raw material.

This series is used in assembly groups and at points where a glass part cannot be chosen because of the risk of breakage; the sizes are determined by the conveying speed and the raw material.

The 45° Branch Y-Connection is used to add a side line to the main conveying line at a narrow angle such as 45° — it provides a smoother transition than a right-angled T-piece. The available diameter range is Ø 38.0 – Ø 114.3 mm, and the wall thickness 1.5 / 2.0 mm.

The balance between space and life

The 45° branch connection offers a middle way between the low wear advantage of the 30° part and the compactness of the T-piece. This is the branch geometry used most often in practice; because most line routes do not allow the length a 30° part requires.

Why a special body with abrasive raw material

Glass fiber abrades the tube wall from the inside like sandpaper, and this effect concentrates at the branch points. A standard 45° part thins out in a short time with this material. The wear-resistant body keeps the same geometry for far longer.

What needs to be checked

• Mounting orientation — the arm must face the direction of flow; wrong mounting removes the advantage completely
• Consecutive branches — do not connect two branch parts directly to each other; leave a straight distance between them
• Wall thickness monitoring — with abrasive raw material the branch points must be on the periodic checklist
• A sign of wearing through — an unexplained drop in conveying capacity is usually a false air leak at a branch point

For lower wear the 30° connection, and for a more compact solution the T-piece, can be considered.
