Guide Carriages (Linear Bearings)
Linear guide carriages, bearings and the flexible couplings between motor and pump.
Guide carriages let the moving platen travel smoothly along the rail. When lubrication is neglected, wear starts between the balls and the raceways; the movement first becomes stiff, then play develops in the guide.
The same group also covers the flexible couplings between motor and pump. A coupling transmits rotation while tolerating the small misalignment between the two shafts; its elastic element hardens and cracks over time. If the element disintegrates completely, the motor turns freely and hydraulic pressure is lost.

- Vibration and a rhythmic noise at the motor-pump connection
- Black rubber dust inside the coupling guard
