Oil coolers, heat exchangers, accumulator bladders and cooling fans.
A heat exchanger transfers the heat of the hydraulic oil into the cooling water. When oil temperature leaves its band, viscosity drops, internal leakage rises and seal life shortens — which means a cooling fault usually presents itself as the failure of some other part.
Oil temperature is a maintenance indicator. Temperature starting to climb on the same job is the first sign of anything from a scaled heat exchanger to falling pump efficiency. A narrowing difference between cooling water inlet and outlet temperature points directly to scaling.
