For high capacity production lines: 2,000 kg/h throughput, 7 components and a batch weight of 10 kg.
2,000 kg/h is far above the consumption of a single injection molding machine. This capacity usually means a central installation feeding more than one machine or a single extrusion line with high consumption.
At this scale the blender is no longer an auxiliary piece of equipment but one of the components affecting the capacity of the line; if it falls short, the line becomes dependent on the blending rate.
The capacity selection has to be made according to the peak consumption of the line, not the average. If the busiest scenario, in which all machines run at the same time, is not taken as the basis, the blender becomes the bottleneck.
There is a risk in the opposite direction as well: a system larger than necessary can keep the line waiting during the batch preparation time and raise the investment unnecessarily. A batch weight of 10 kg is a value balanced with the consumption rate at this capacity.
At this level of consumption a small deviation in the masterbatch and additive ratio turns into a meaningful difference in the annual cost. The additive given in excess as a safety margin in volumetric dosing becomes directly visible at this scale — and the payback period of the gravimetric system gets shorter for that reason.
Batch-based consumption reporting shows directly how much each recipe uses. The calculation approach is in the cost per part article.
On systems with a large body, the space needed for cleaning, calibration and chamber filling has to be planned at the installation stage; correcting it afterwards usually requires the layout to be changed.
The shared features of the series — ±0.01% weighing accuracy, the EasyClean tool-free dismantling design, touch control and consumption reporting — and why gravimetric dosing saves money compared with volumetric systems are explained in detail on the gravimetric dosing systems page. For the capacities below and above you can look at the FGB5 and FGB25 series.
At this capacity the distribution line running from the blender to the machines directly affects the performance of the system. While the prepared mixture is conveyed over a long line there is a risk that components of different densities separate again; the line route should be kept short and free drops should be limited.
Planning is needed on the chamber filling side as well: at high consumption manual filling is not practical, and the raw material feed is usually connected to the central conveying system. For the warnings most frequently encountered at high capacity and their remedies you can look at the alarm message table in the guide.
